EARCOS 2009, Use of This Site, Leaving South East Asia.
Hello all -- A couple of quick comments on the EARCOS teacher's conference, use of the this site, and my departure from Asia.
EARCOS -- although I didn't attend the conference this year (officially) I did catch the last day as I was visiting a friend in Borneo. The location was spectacular, and the couple of environmentally related workshops I attended were quite inspirational. There was not much in the way of music, although I do believe one of our members presented on the importance of being a healthy teacher! Next year's conference will be in Manila. No word yet on the lineup, but if you want to teach a workshop, I strongly urge you to contact your EARCOS rep to make it happen!
Use of this site: At both this site and another that I manage, we have had some uninvited members who have been spamming for ringtones. Those members have been banned. In order to keep this site open and transparent to all -- PLEASE UPLOAD A PHOTO SO WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE! If spamming continues, members with no photo may be banned from the site.
Leaving Asia -- at the end of this school year, I will be leaving Asia for a time. I am taking a year off from teaching to cycle tour in various parts of the world (New Zealand is high on the list so if you are a KIWI and have some recommendations, let me know) and to explore other areas of education. I may return to Asia or not. We shall see. I'd like to co-manage with an educator active in Asia during the year I am gone with the understanding that this person may take over completely if I do not return. If there is anyone interested in doing this please let me know soon.
