Hi, I am just confirming that I am happy to have this venue to post comments. I am doing a bit of research for some committee work for the Jakarta Int'l School. JIS is currently redoing their Elementary Music Program. We are extending General Music K-5 to include two 45 minutes periods per class during a 6 day cycle. Elementary strings, choir and recorder don't fit into the curriculum by that definition. JIS is defining curriculum as anything that is taught to ALL students. The ensemble activities are optional and offered during after school activities period from 2-3:00PM .
1) What is your school's definition of curriculum?
2) How many minutes per week do El music students attend general music class?
3) Does you're school have an Elementary ensemble program, band, choir, recorder ensemble?
4) Are elementary ensemble activities curricular or considered after school activities, (choir, band, strings, recorders) ?
5) How long is your Elementary school day
Thanks for your time and for getting the site going
